We are a group of experienced Toastmasters who have completed a minimum of our CTM or CC designation. Each of us wants to increase our core competency as speakers and / or leaders. In May of 1999 a group of us gathered and chartered the Excel-Orators club. The name is a play on words: some of us call ourselves "accelerators" and others "excel orators." Excel-Orators meetings are focused on speaking while leadership is taught both by speech subject matter and mentoring. Our evaluations are generally group evaluations with individual members focusing on specific areas of speaking competency such as: organization, body language, vocal usage, space usage, eye contact, and emotional reception. We joke that only here will you hear about squeaky shoes!
Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. At community and corporate clubs the focus is on making our newest members welcomed and safe. Since detailed evaluations can be threatening we needed a place to gather where we could argue about how a speaker is perceived by others and get down and picky about execution while still telling each other what each of us executes well.
Our advanced Toastmasters club focuses on what you do well and the nitty-gritty that will take you to the next level of communication. Many of our members have been active at the District level and are terrific leadership resources.
